Hello everyone!
We're thrilled to see even more members back in regular attendance! Only yesterday morning we were blessed to see one come forward to make a public profession of faith in Jesus as Lord and Savior, and another come forward for obedience to Jesus' command to be baptized. Our Sunday night services in the fellowship hall have started to take on their own identity of sorts - very relaxed and informal, yet filled with praise and dedicated time in God's Word. Our Wednesday night Bible Study began a new session focused on helping us be better counselors to people with needs (as well as ourselves) and I'm getting positive feedback about that. In short, it's a great time to be involved in Pine Grove!
Pastors I speak with in Henderson county, and pastors I know from cities across our nation, are rejoicing to see people return to church. We're also concerned, as every church has attenders and members we haven't seen or heard from in a long time. Some have very pressing health concerns, some have had changes to work schedules or other obligations arise due to changes in their regular schedules. And, there are also people who "became used to the idea" of not attending church services and just haven't come back. Let's all join in prayer that Christians we know, care for, and love here and elsewhere, will return to regular attendance with the family of God in the days and weeks to come and let's welcome everyone back with joy and thanksgiving!
Our church wants to return to a full slate of normal activity this summer. Every church is making adjustments, and likewise, we're contacting volunteers to confirm their availability. We know new volunteers are needed in several areas. If you can be with us regularly, and have a desire to work in new areas of church life, this is a great time to explore where you can serve.
Here are some events to be watching for over the next few weeks:
Bible study and business meeting June 9, 7:00 pm
Normally our business meeting would have taken place last Wednesday, but it was rescheduled for this week. We will also continue our counseling for self and others series, focusing on "worry and anxiety" challenges.
Southern Baptist Convention Nashville, TN June 13-16
Pastor David Skorupa, Butch Powers, and Diane Powers will represent Pine Grove Baptist at meetings at the Southern Baptist Convention. Please be in prayer as these meetings will select a new Convention President, have an impact on Baptist missions and evangelism work, and often have ripple effects that make a difference for both new and established Southern Baptist churches here and around the world. Pastor David will give us a report on the Convention's activities later this month.
Father's Day June 20
A special Father's Day message will be part of our morning service as we thank our Heavenly Father for the gift of our earthly fathers, grandfathers, and yes, great-grandfathers.
Pine Grove Fish Fry Details coming soon
This week we are confirming our plans for a Fish Fry meal together soon! Please be in prayer, and if you wish to help out please contact Pastor David this week if possible.
