OUR HISTORY
Pine Grove Baptist Church was organized in 1943 under the leadership of Bro. E.E. Deusner. Bro. Tom Maddux was called to serve as pastor that same year. Since then Pine Grove has been blessed with 17 lead pastors, with Bro. Jimmy Burroughs as the church's longest-serving leader, from 1988 until his retirement in 2017, and our most recent pastor, Dr. David Skorupa, who served for over 5 years before relocating to Arkansas in July, 2023. Bro. Lynn Walker was our interim Pastor from 2023-2026. Bro. Jacob Eaton is our current Pastor since March 2026.

Our deacons are men who have invested many quality years of prayer and service in Pine Grove. Worship minister Jim Lawson has led our worship since 1980, recognized as the longest serving worship leader at one church in the state of Tennessee according to the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board.

From those early years in a small white building near the highway to our present campus, the people of Pine Grove Baptist Church have enjoyed being blessed by worship and the Word. Many members have been with us for a long time, and we are very excited about people who are returning to Pine Grove and new members joining our church family.
PASTOR
BRO. Jacob Eaton
I’m Bro. Jacob Eaton. I have been married to my wife, Megan Eaton for 7 years. We have 2 children Jonah and Isaiah with one on the way in September. We also have a non biological son, Keagon Stanback, who the Lord has blessed us to mentor. I am a SRO at Decatur County Middle School as well as an assistant football coach at DCMS. All of this was put together by the Lord. I pastored Sardis Ridge Baptist Church for nearly 8 years and have been in the Gospel Ministry preaching since 2018, and the Lord was faithful during that time. When God says go, you go. He has done nothing but good for us all. I am so excited for God to continue to move at Pine Grove Baptist Church. I believe that God is going to grow us not just in numbers, but in spirit. This church has such a rich history of Faithfulness and the best is yet to come! I’m looking forward to this new walk in my ministry in the Lord. Come join us as we follow the Lord together!
OUR WORSHIP LEADER, BRO. JIM LAWSON
Bro. Jim Lawson is the longtime leader of worship and praise at Pine Grove Baptist Church (beginning as a "very young man" in 1980). He has been a member of our Parker's Crossroads / Wildersville / Lexington community since early childhood.
Bro. Jim leads us with songs that glorify God, encourage the believer, and point us to the Lord Jesus Christ.
He and his wife Belinda have one son.
Bro. Jim also served our community as a member of law enforcement, retiring after 34 years.
